The Katy
A rails-to-trails project, the Katy is the longest biking and hiking
trail in the country. In days past the trail was the Missouri-Kansas-Texas(MKT)
Railroad, better know as the Katy. The trail runs near the Missouri
river and gives a biker a view of some of the best natural scenery Missouri
has
to offer. To learn more about the Katy, see the Missouri State site
at Katy
Trial State Park.
Take a look at a map of the Defiance
area of the Katy Trail State Park. There is so much, so close when you
begin your scenic ride from KBR in Defiance. The fact that the Katy
is a rails-to-trails project makes your ride even more enjoyable. Trains
on the Katy could not climb a steep grade, and you won't have to either.
Wine Country Bike Tours
Enjoy Missouri wine country, or "Missouri's Rhineland", by
bicycle. Sugar Creek, Blumenhof,
Montelle, Augusta
and Mount
Pleasant wineries are all within an easy 45 minute pedal from our
back door. For those whose tastes gravitate towards barley & hops,
check out Augusta micro brewery. Most of these attractions offer live
music to make your visit even more enjoyable.
